2022 Russian River Valley Barbieri Vineyard Pinot Noir
2022 Pinot Noir
93 Points
"From this vineyard on Olivet Road, around the corner from Parsons, the 2022 Pinot Noir Barbieri Vineyard pours a ripe magenta ruby hue and shows a darker profile, with more savory aromas of licorice, black cherries, rosemary, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it expands on the palate, with broader shoulders, ripe tannins, and an earth-toned grip on the finish. It is going to show its best in another year."
About This Wine
The Barbieri Vineyard represents a homecoming of sorts. We purchased fruit from the Barbieri Vineyard almost 15 years ago when it was planted to Zinfandel. Now replanted to Pinot Noir, the outstanding quality of the wine that is produced from it remains. The wines from 2022 show outstanding sense of place and freshness despite the myriad challenges. The logistical puzzle of picking crews, trucks and fermentation space was a wild one, but the wines that are coming out of this wild vintage are well worth it!
